Bammer Motorsports/Moeller Bros. Body Shop Inc. began to take shape in the late 1970’s, early 1980’s.  Quentin Bammer started with a sponsorship of a super modified at San Jose Speedway.  Along with his sponsorship, he also bought a couple of quarter midgets and put each of his three boys behind the wheel.  The racing bug set in quick!  Quentin bought his own super modified so he could make the calls on what he wanted to do with the car.  As his involvement with the super modified grew, the time for his boys in the quarter midgets diminished.  The boys didn’t mind too much because they were still going to the race track every weekend.

As the years went on, some pretty big names got behind the wheel of Quentin’s race cars.  In 1981 Jimmy Sills stepped into the seat of the modified and found victory lane a few times.  After the 1981 season was over, so was the super modified.  Quentin bought a sprint car and started running on the NARC circuit at many tracks up and down the west coast.  Tim Green scored the first win for Bammer Motorsports in the sprint car at San Jose Speedway.  This was a very special night because the car was brand new and had only been assembled hours before the race.  The chassis was bare metal, the hood and tail tank came yellow, but the number was put on with duct tape.  All the guys were so tired they didn’t even really show much emotion in victory lane.

Bobby Davis Jr.

Quite a few drivers sat in the seat of his sprint car.  Tim Green, Leland McSpadden, Jimmy Boyd, Chuck Gurney, Bobby Davis Jr., and Brad Doty, just to name a few.  All the drivers found success, but none more than Gurney.  Chuck Gurney won many races at Baylands and also Calistoga, with a non-wing car.  In 1983 he was the NARC series champion driving the silver Moeller Bros. Body Shop, Inc., Bud Light #11n sprinter.

After the 1984 season was over, Bammer Motorsports went on the road with the World of Outlaws.  The #18 Moeller Bros. Body Shop, Inc., Gambler Chassis sprint car was driven by Bobby Davis Jr. with Ken Woodruff turning the wrenches.  This was a very good year with Davis getting a few wins and running second in the points to “The King” Steve Kinser.  1985 marked the end of Bammer Motorsports for a few years.  That was until Todd began pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a race car driver.
